Konrad Kording is one of the loudest, clearest voices trying to fix how science is done, and he is doing it now. His NIH-backed education effort at Penn, building open modules on bias, causality, and experimental design, is rolling out across universities and was spotlighted when the first units launched in 2025, with more coming online into 2026.
He is also in the thick of today’s research-integrity fight, engaging publicly this month with high profile debates around PubPeer and alleged image problems, the exact kind of accountability conversation tech and biomed need as AI floods into labs. Hearing him on Dwarkesh today would channel that rigor into the AI discourse that show leads.
And the timing is perfect, with fresh neuroAI results like CMU’s Jan 8, 2026 “virtual zebrafish” showing curiosity-driven agents that mirror real brain behavior, exactly the crossover Kording specializes in making legible. He has not appeared on the Dwarkesh Podcast before, which makes this a rare chance to set the standard for how we talk about rigor in the AI era.
If you want better science and smarter AI, support this nomination today.
