    Each monetization path changes the incentive for what you publish and who you're really serving. Ask what he's learned about which of those keeps your audience's trust intact.

    The developer community online is generous at scale and brutal in the replies

    Beginners get help from strangers within minutes, and also get dunked on for asking the wrong question. That contradiction shapes who stays in the field more than any curriculum does.

    What's the most common piece of career advice you've given that turned out to be wrong?

    Good answers here tend to come with a specific person it failed, not a general principle. Ask for the case that changed his mind.
